About project

The unique vase/object TOWER, with its simple shape, copies the architectural line of buildings of remarkable dimensions.

A skyscraper is a continuous habitable high-rise building that has over 40 floors and is more than approximately 150 meters tall. Skyscrapers are also sometimes referred to as buildings whose height exceeds 100 meters. In history, the term first referred to buildings with 10 to 20 floors, at the end of the 19th century. The definition shifted with advances in construction throughout the 20th century.

The city with the most skyscrapers in the world with more than 150 meters is the autonomous Chinese territory of Hong Kong. Followed by New York, Dubai and Tokyo.

The tallest building in ancient times was Khufu’s pyramid with a height of 146 m from the 26th century BC. The first high-rise buildings arose in classical antiquity, ancient Roman buildings in imperial cities reached ten or more floors. In the European Middle Ages, residential towers were built mainly in Italy (e.g. in Bologna), but also in German cities (Riezno) for the urban patricians.

The highest current skyscraper in the Czech Republic is the AZ Tower in Brno with 111 meters. Its construction took place in 2011-2013. The second tallest building in the Czech Republic stands in Prague on the Pankrácká plain, it measures 109 meters and is called the City Tower. Originally, the building was supposed to be the seat of Czechoslovak Radio.

TOWER is the tallest vase-object in my portfolio so far.

Handmade, mouth-blown vases used czech crystal glass.

Each vase is hand-blown into a wooden mold, hand-cut and sandblasted.

Through the simple shape, it easily harmonizes with a minimalist, bohemian and elegantly furnished apartment.

Signed and certified.
