About project

A playful collage of colors in the historic center of Prague

A flat in the center of Prague has undergone a complete renovation, from reinforcing the beams to installing modern air conditioning. Nothing remains of the 1990s renovations, giving the interior a fresh, airy feel that honors the historical genius loci but brings a contemporary colorful energy.

The open approach to experimenting with colors and art is essential – the owners brought some of the furniture and art objects they already owned and gradually added other original pieces. These include, for example, the author’s glass objects by František Jungvirt, which add a fragile beauty to the space.

The entire apartment is designed to use color as a full-fledged part of the interior – green, pink, orange and blue – creating a unique atmosphere. Color accents flow from one room to another, giving the space an unexpected dynamism and at the same time visually unifying it.

This approach is visible in all rooms, from playful pieces of furniture and colorful textiles to the art collection. In the center of the free-flowing space stands a green staircase, whose distinctive color and sculptural structure with wooden steps poetically refer to nature. In one direction is a generous bedroom with its own bathroom, dominated by daylight in combination with calm tones and distinctive design details. On the other side is the main living area, which is seamlessly connected to the pink kitchen. On the upper floor is a children’s room with a bathroom, which is organically connected to the second room by a distinctive blue curved wardrobe. A hallway with paintings illuminated by orange lights juxtaposes a peaceful still life with technical facilities in the form of a recognized washing machine and dryer, laundry baskets and an entrance to a separate toilet.

The result is a distinctive apartment that is both spacious and cozy: high ceilings add a sense of generosity, while warm wood tones and shades of pink, orange, green and blue create a warm home for a family of three. This place feels like it never stops evolving. And that’s what makes it so lively.
