JUNGVIRT X MENTLOVA

Ivana Mentlová is undoubtedly one of the most successful Czech designers. Her clients include global fashion personalities, influencers and celebrities. More than 110,000 fans follow her on social networks, among whom we can find names like Hailey Bieber, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Elsa Hosk, Pernille Teisbaek, Alex Rivière-Sieber and many others.

František Jungvirt is a glass artist, designer and glass painter. He is among the most original representatives of the young generation of Czech glass makers. In addition to the design of useful objects, he is dedicated to the creation of art objects, installations and limited series made of glass. In his work, he usually returns to the most classic references of Czech glassmaking, which he combines with new impulses. In recent years, he exhibited his works at exhibitions here as well as in London, New York, Paris, Milan, Switzerland, Jerusalem or Hanoi.

The collaboration between Ivana Mentlová and František Jungvirt is based on symbiosis in the way of thinking, the same approach to artistic creation and the relationship to top craftsmanship. It also has an international reach and successes abroad. The joint collection of three noble mouth-blown and hand-cut shapes plays with minimalism and earthy color shades. Shapes based on an elegant line shape are significant for František’s work. Ivana, who has an excellent perception of proportions and colors, chose a unique range of colors for these objects designed by Frantisek, reminiscent of the materials she normally works with, such as leather or suede. These materials are also imitated by the surface treatment of some glass vases, which are matted using the sandblasting technique.

The lightness, casualness and top-quality design of the individual glass pieces place them in the category of collectible items, which are intended for exceptional spaces. Two sizes of unique vases and a diffuser, they fit perfectly into purist interiors, where they emphasize the beauty of purity and detail through the play of shape, light and soft earthy colors.

For our resulting objects, we did not have to search for a long time for an adequate space for their best presentation. Villa Tugendhat in Brno is a unique manifestation of the functionalist and internationalist thinking of the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, whose thinking was close to ours. Our objects fit perfectly into the space and effortlessly underscored the beauty of the villa’s interior. When arranging the vases and implementing the flowers into shapes, we were based on historical photographs.

Each vase is mout-blown into a wooden mold, hand-cut and polished to a high gloss or matted using the sandblasting technique.

Due to their minimalist shape and subtle color shades, they easily fit into any interior.
