Tititi is a brand founded by Tereza Talichová in 2019 that has successfully found its niche in contemporary Czech design for children. Tititi focuses on one-of-a-kind hand-painted wooden figures uniquely personifying many different types of people, artists and drama and book characters, which are rendered in a playful way and with a penchant for detail.
First, the wood (spruce, oak, limewood) is hand-turned to give shape to the figure and then painted. With a few exceptions, the forms are symmetrical, vertical and individualized, executed according to a profile (silhouette) outline. The small objects are based on the artist’s original artwork, mainly figurative drawings, and watercolour and oil paintings. In terms of type, these works fall within the category of applied arts although the use of the objects is solely up to the decision of their owner – children can play with them, adults can use them as interior accessories. Although Tereza Talichová’s artwork is primarily not created as playthings, they can become toys.
After a challenging reconstruction, Vila Silenta, built in 1912, was introduced to the professional public. David Raiser, CEO of the development group SOLO Praha, which is behind the project, says, “For us, Hřebenky is a hidden gem of Prague. From the beginning, we knew we would try to preserve as many original elements as possible or replace those that were too damaged with replicas. However, we were aware that the standards of today’s life are completely different.”
The reconstructed house was designed by architect František Kavalír, a student of Jan Kotěra. Vila Silenta, located near other modernist monuments, attracts architecture enthusiasts with its view of Prague. “We wanted to preserve the original beauty but bring the villa into 2024 so that it would be a beautiful place to live,” adds Raiser.
The challenging reconstruction culminated in a week-long open house for professionals and potential buyers, during which the developer also showcased the interiors. The furnishings were done in collaboration with renowned brands such as the German manufacturer Rolf Benz, Czech glassworks Brokis, and the high-end bathroom fittings manufacturer Gessi.
Our glass also had the special honor of adorning the villa at the grand opening. Eva Raiser approached us, and together we selected glass that matches the style of Vila Silenta.
The villa is now waiting for its new owner.
