The Lumination exhibition offers a selection of fifteen paintings by painter Alžběta Josefy and fourteen glass objects by glass designer and artist František Jungvirt. Among them are the significant Garden, which represents binding in its purest form, the massive COCO, which combines black and white opal glass, or the playfully wavy Trifid made of unique uranium glass.

Curator Barbora Gerny created a harmonious concept for the exhibition, in which it was important to find an element connecting the work of both artists. Alžběta Josefy works conceptually. He looks for light and energy in objects that permeate them and create individual layers. It creates an absorbing illusion using the principle that illuminates the image – it washes away the applied layer of paint. This creates images through which light seems to permeate. This strong emotional experience is then supported by a strong color concept. The same can be observed in the work of František Jungvirt. The passage of light rays through the glass creates illusory colored images radiating the inner energy of the glass material. The works of both artists are carefully synchronized and color coordinated to form an aesthetic whole.

“I am very happy with the exhibition and its concept. Personally, I see my vases not only as a design product, but also as an art object that can communicate with and complement another work of art. Lumination is a demonstration that the combination of design and art can work in the interior,” adds František Jungvirt.

This mutual dialogue between the works of Alžběta Josefa and František Jungvirt can be viewed at the Zurich Go-Green-Art Gallery until April 19, 2024.

text by Soňa Hanušová

Seestrasse 2, Erlenbach, Switzerland

Represented collections:

GARDEN BASIC, COCO, SILKY BLACK, SILKY WHITE, TRDLIK, TRIFID URANIUM MATT, TOY VASE-DIFUSER, BLACK FLEUR VASE, GARDEN DARK FOREST/20
